The day I met my best friend
It was in 1st grade on a warm spring day, and I was outside
playing at school. I was talking to one of my classmates when suddenly a girl
came running towards us. “A girl from my class is missing, I think I saw her
getting in to a car” she said. I looked at my classmate and asked “should we
help look for her” but she said no and walked away. I looked at the girl; she
was quite small for her age, at least half a head shorter than me. She had long
brown hair with curls at the end. “My name is Sofía what’s yours?” she asked. I
fumbled a little since I was very shy. “Mm.. My… My name is Mia” Sofía smiled
at first and then her smile turned to a more serious expression. “Will you help
me look?” she asked “yeah I’ll help” I said and then we ran off.
After a while we still hadn’t found any trace of Sofía’s classmate. We
walked a little while in silence. “So, what happened exactly” I asked Sofía. “Well,
I was walking to class as I saw her walking towards a car. Or at least I
thought it was her. I wasn’t sure until class started and she wasn’t there” “oh”
I replied. We walked a little more then she said “Hey believe it or not but I
totally beat a 8th grader once” I dropped my jaw “What no way, seriously!?
”
“Yep, we were just a bit further up a head from here” She said, smiling and
swung her arms around like in the karate kid movie. I was amazed by her story; beating up an 8th
grader was a big accomplishment for someone in the 1st grade.
“Oh yeah, and there was this onetime where a guy from 7th grade
wanted to me to be his girlfriend” This time I was so shocked that I stopped right
in my tracks. I just stared at her. I couldn’t believe that I was walking with someone
this awesome. Instead of looking for Sofía’s classmate we walked and talked.
She told more stories like the other ones. We talked until our parents came to
get us from school. I smiled on the way home, because I had just made a friend.
The day after I saw Sofía again, also it turned out that her classmate wasn’t
missing at all. She had been picked up by her dad because she wasn’t feeling
well. We laughed a little about and promised each other that we should play
together after school.
And even though we now live in different
cities and don’t to talk each other every day, she is still my best friend and
always will be.
